Weather suspends final round of BMW Championship

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Final-round play has been suspended at the BMW Championship, an ominous sign with rain in the forecast all day at Conway Farms.

Officials suspended play at 10 a.m. local time Sunday as heavy rain continued to pound the Windy City. There was no lightning in the area, but puddles had begun to form in the fairways and on the greens.

The forecast for the rest of the day isn’t much better, either.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the low 60s with at least a 75 percent chance of rain through the afternoon.

Monday’s forecast looks more promising, if the BMW is extended another day: high of 64 degrees, mostly sunny, and winds gusting to 20 mph.

The final group of Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker was scheduled to tee off at 12:40 p.m. local time.
