Things You Can Do To Improve Your Putting

There are a number things you can do to improve your putting. These are not complicated and can yield you major dividends with regards to lowering your golf score. Improving your putting involve making changes in your golf swing putter alignment and properly using putter alignment aids.

Getting your golf swing setup correct varies for each club in your golf bag. Using the correct golf swing setup for your putter is part of this. When you line for a putt make sure you body is square to the intended target. Also ensure the head of your putter is square to the intended target. This can be achieved by using various putting aids. One putting aids exists on your putter. Most putters have a line on the top of the putter head. When setting up for a putt endure this line aimed at the intended target.

Another thing you can do is practice your putting. When many golfers practice their putting they start with long putts, say 45 feet or so. Practicing long putts is a good idea. However practicing putts which are to long is not practical. While these are fun, how often will be needing to make such a putt on the golf course ? You could go a whole round and not have a putt that long. So  while you want to put time in on those long putts, make sure you  practice the shorter putts. Odds are the vast majority of your putts  will be from about 15 feet or so in. So start there and work your way to te shorter putts. Make three or four of the longer ones in a row before moving to a shorter  distance.

There are many other things you can do to improve your puting. These include the proper mental approach and keeping relaxed. If you are not relaxed when you make a putt you're more likely to make a quick, jabbing strike  through the ball, rather than a nice flowing stroke. To stay relaxed before you make a putt,  take a few practice strokes. Focus on feeling the weight of the  club-head. Try to lag it behind the ball on the forward stroke. This  promotes better putter head and improves speed and direction control. It also helps get the correct feel for putt you to make to hit the hole.

These are some simple things you can to improve your putting. Of course the rest of your golf game must also be good. These include your golf swing takeaway and golf swing release. So practice all aspects of your golf game and you will see improvement in your game.
